Update from March 2020 Now

Just to archive this:

I’m living (with my R-T-G and 2 remarkable orange cats) at Happy Camp, in the piñon-juniper forest south of the small art/ranching community of Mountainair, New Mexico.

Passages, my newest CD, is released and available everywhere:  SpotifyCDBabyiTunesAmazon. Also Pandora Premium.

With Keith in Santa Fe, July 2019.

I’ve completed notating the pieces from Passages. They are available in the store as individual titles and as an ebook as well. You can find them here.

I’m practicing my jazz (such as it is) for a concert by the Salinas Chorale here in Mountainair in May. That is of course assuming that the chorale gets to rehearse in the next 2 months (which they aren’t right now, for you know why), and that the governor lifts restrictions on public gatherings before May. My jazz playing will still be improved, regardless!

My concerts last autumn were wonderful! My friend & collaborator, concert artist Keith Porter Snell, surprised me by coming to my concert in Mountainair in November. Most of the time he lives in Bath, England, and he had just arrived in Santa Fe the day before. I had not expected him to come the 90+ miles to my little town so soon in his visit. And I have to admit, I was just a bit intimidated, because I was going to play my piece Forgive (from Verbs), in public for the first time. And of course: Keith recorded it. I wrote it for him! So many arpeggios! All left hand! I expected to be too scared to play even a measure, but once that measure was played, all the others seemed quite do-able. Isn’t it always that way: starting is the hardest part. It was so fabulous to play for my home audience and Keith, all at the same time. I am so blessed.

I spend my time on these things:

  • Creating and practicing music for Meditations of My Heart, a new CD of spiritual songs that I will record in 2020.
  • Learning Irish Gaelic, with the help of Bitesize Irish Gaelic and Duolingo. Spanish and French are on hold at the moment, but I’ll be a polyglot yet.
  • Planning garden improvements for Happy Camp. I feel like we did pretty well in tumbleweed removal last fall and so I’m hoping that this year I can concentrate on some new plantings, and on removing snakeweed, which is only half as annoying as tumbleweed.

When my activities or priorities change, I’ll update this page. This update: March 21, 2020.
